~ Explore the Art of Medicine-Making and Plant Spirit Communion~

In this plant playshop we will explore the art of Medicine-Making. Herbal medicine is more than it's chemical compounds, it holds the living spirit of the plants themselves. It is the frequency of healing and wholeness held within the Earth and freely offered to her children. Rather than simply combining ingredients and extracting the physical constituents from plant bodies, we come into connection and communion with the spirit of the plant itself and acknowledge that we are in co-creation with a consciousness far older and wiser than our own. ​​​​In this playshop we acknowledge both the body and spirit of the plant and call forth the multi-dimensional nature of it's medicine.

As many parts of the Earth are moving into Winter, herbal medicines, such as tinctures, oils, and oxymels, become especially supportive and nourishing. Most plants do not grow in the Winter and herbal medicine supports us to work with plants out of season. The Solstice marks the beginning of Winter, a time of inner stillness, deep introspection, and regeneration. For the next 6 months following the Darkest Day of the Year, our Sun will journey closer and closer to us in his orbit around the Earth, bringing increased light, warmth, and illumination. This is a beautiful time to set intentions for the next 6 month period from Winter to Summer Solstice. We will come together in Solstice Ceremony and Ritual on Day 2 of this Playshop.

The first day of this playshop will be devoted to the art of herbal Medicine-Making. We will explore the practicals and principles of Medicine-Making and make 3 herbal infusions (oxymel, tincure, oil) together. Please note that we will be preparing these infusions and they will need 4 - 6 weeks to fully infuse before they can be used. Day 2 will be a journey into the art of plant spirit connection and communion. We will explore our plants through tea and work with our newly prepared infusions, further calling forth their spirit. You'll be guided through the intuitive practice of plant spirit communion via breath, sound, meditation, and movement.

In this playshop you will learn how to make your own herbal infusions, understand the basics of herbal medicine making (folk method)*, make one herbal tincture, one herbal oil, and one herbal oxymel, explore plant spirit connection and communion, open your voice and vessel to deeper relating and communication with plants, and partake in Solstice ceremony and ritual. Both sessions will be recorded and made available to you within 24 hours and recordings will remain available for viewing for one year.

*the folk method is the simple and traditional method of making herbal medicine without the math or exact measurements and ratios. This is the only method I use for medicine making. ​​

What you'll need for this playshop:

~ 1 - 3 dried herbs of your choice (don't overthink this, is there an herb in your kitchen or garden you enjoy or a particular plant that's been calling that you can aquire?)

~ 3 mason jars between 8 and 32 oz 

~ a sheet of baking paper

~ oil of your choice (jojoba, almond, avocado, olive)

~ organic apple cider vinegar

~ raw honey

~ 80-120 proof alcohol (vodka, everclear, gin, brandy)
